V11 online contributions reports

Post by pgarner127 »

I have a member who has requested his 1st qtr contribution statement. I ran the report, and saved it as a pdf file. I was going to email him the pdf, but I am unable to locate where the system saved the file. It stated that is was being transferred to the local workstation during the save. Can someone tell me what folder should I expect to find this report.

This is a problem peculiar to Powerchurch Online, as you are running Powerchurch through a remote terminal. When you do this, the remote terminal software maps your local drives differently than if the program was running local to your computer, here's how you can make sure that you have the file saved to your local machine:
From the save Report As screen, click the change button.
Open the Save in drop down and you will see your local drives listed. When you connect, the server maps your local drives to drive letters like network maps. For example, when I login, my local C: drive is mapped to drive N:. So if I save a file to drive N: I can save it to my local hard drive.
So when you go to save as a PDF, do not accept the default location listed, but Change it and locate your local mapped drive.

Now after all that, you should be able to email the PDF directly from Powerchurch (I believe this can be done from PC Online too) by clicking on the Envelope icon on the menu bar in the Report Preview screen.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, however I do not see a option to select the folder for saving the file. The only option I am presented during the save report as is the ability to select the type of file.

There should be a block under that drop down, this should work the same in Online, as it does in locally installed Powerchurch.

You should be able to change the file location shown in the File Name block by pressing the Change Button.

That's the way it works when installed locally.

It prompts for the location after clicking OK for online users. This should be saved to a Drive mapped M: or higher.

Quick question ... why the difference ?? Because of the terminal server setup ??

Yes. The ability to open the saved file on the workstation after the copy completes is lost otherwise.

Thansk for your help, but I am still having problems with saving the report locally. I do not get the option to select file after clicking ok in the save as menu.

There are a couple of files that handle document redirection to the local machine on Windows computers, and that's what you seem to be missing. This is kind of annoying, but it'll fix the issue.

The two files are idsrcli.exe and idsrdcli.exe. One gets put into C:\Windows and the other is in C:\Program Files\IDS LLC\IDS Client. The trick is to copy both files into both locations. When you reconnect, the document redirection should work properly. Hopefully, this will be addressed in a future update of the IDS client, and the files will be installed/registered properly.

You will find each of them in one of the two folders that was listed in that post. Both files need to be in both folders.
