Re: V11 Family Update Form causes Crash
I just tested mine, and when I ran PC+ after a reboot the report ran ok. I clicked the restart with same parameters button and reran the report and it crashed. I then restarted the program and ran the report with all the defaults and the report ran the first time, but failed the second time. After I started the program again it crashed the first time I ran the report.

Re: V11 Family Update Form causes Crash
This report has a couple of dialogs for narrowing down the results. Does either display after clicking the "Restart with same parameters" button?

Little heads up here.
I can run this report every other time here, when it blows up, I get a Microsoft error message. This on the stand alone machine I use for testing. That said, my wife the Rev, says she gets the same error every time no matter what.
I was filtering for active and inactive members in the selection, and only including some phone numbers, and dates.

Re: V11 Family Update Form causes Crash
I had totally forgotten about this thread. Today i was showing our pastor the blank forms that we could use to get new member info. then I told him there was also a report to print out the existing ones for updating. If I select all member households (which is 120-something) and try to run it, it just throws us out of PC. there are no error messages. I log back in and the same thing happens. The only time we got it to work was when we specified just a handful of names. I can see it as it is preparing the report and see something like over 5000 records being written. I'm not sure what those "records" are. There are not 5,000 peopli in the report.
I'll have to go back and look at what operating system was on the office computer but I imagine it might be XP.
do you think this is some internal memory or cache space issue? Has anyone else had it work with just a small number of members?

More than one way to skin a cat.....I was just able to run the report but first specified to send the output to file. I saved it as a PDF and then we can go back and print it later.
It actually took a few tries to work. I wasn't sure what previous posters meant about "recalling" saved parameters. Just now I saw the button where you could save them and so I did that. when I pulled it up as a saved parameters and ran the first time it worked. So at least I have a file now. But when I went back to verify how i did it, it logged me off again.

By logging you off I trust you mean that the program shut down with no type of error message, not even a standard Windows one.debbieg wrote: So at least I have a file now. But when I went back to verify how i did it, it logged me off again.

Usually, logging off refers to logging off a website, or a windowed mainframe terminal session.

yes, neil. that's correct. I used the term "logging off" because the effect was the same as if I had purposely done it. It was different from an abort where an error message is displayed. I could see it running through the report prep and then all of a sudden the screen is back to the "Program Window on IDS-PC-1".
Hmmm...just occurs to me. I am running on PC Online. Were the others using Online or a dedicated copy on their machine? Maybe my error shows up on a server somewhere.

Re: V11 Family Update Form causes Crash
A local copy of the program causes the problem. I had the fortune to see the problem Tuesday. It gave me some clues. I hope to have found the cause to this one. I've asked someone to beta test it. For those online, beta testing isn't an option, though it does allow us to test on the same hardware <smile>.

Is anyone still able to reproduce this problem? We've still not recreated it here.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I can still do it at will. Just did it on the Blank Update page, as well as the Family Update Form.

Tracy,
I am now running Windows 7 on both of my home machines and I could not recreate the problem.

Re: V11 Family Update Form causes Crash
We just had a user report an error that only appeared when a family had the "Home Phone" label assigned to the Phone 3 field. I wonder if this is related to what you all are experiencing. Take a look and see if you have anyone in the Family Mailing List whose Home Phone is listed all the way down in Phone 3.
BTW, the fix for that particular error is already waiting for the next MR.

It can be different on every family.
