Selected Dates report bug?

Post by Eden Whitehead »

It could very well be me - er, operator error :?

I just now discovered the Selected Dates report. I'm thinking it is new to v11 and I really like how easy it will be to get a monthly birthday list for the greeting card ministry. Or, I thought it would be easy. Here is what I've experienced.

If I select "This month" next to "Birth date" and select the Personal Status codes I want, the report tells me
"No records selected".

If I leave "All dates" next to "Birth date" and manually enter 8/1 to 8/31 and select the exact same Personal Status codes as before, I get a list of 12 names.

I would've expected my first effort (selecting "This month" for "Birth date") to return the list that I was only able to get by manually entering the date range.

If it's me - er, operator error - please let me know what the "operator" is doing wrong!

Thanks,
Eden

The Selected Dates report is actually old (the Birthdays & Anniversaries List is new!)

When you use the full month/day/year selection, you are looking for people who were actually born this month in 2010. When you use just the month and day range, it pulls people's birthdays from ANY year in August.

You can use the month/day/year selections to pull people by their age (people born 8/4/1992 to 8/3/2010 are under 18)

Aha! I figured it was probably a case of the "operator" needing more training!

Thanks for the explanation, Zorak. It makes perfect sense now!
