Re: Email error
The error looks like your ISP's mail server is not responding back to a SMTP server connection request.kimvdh wrote:Hi

In order to use the email function in Powerchurch, you have to use the same settings you use if you're accessing your email using Outlook or Thunderbird.
We'll probably need to know how do you access your church email before we go any further.

Re: Email error
The individual email button does not use the built-in SMTP email function, but the email program from your desktop. I'm supposing Outlook, Outlook Express, or Windows Live.kimvdh wrote:ok now i can send if i click the email button on a person's profile but it sends the email from my person email account (@telus.net) but in the setting up preferences i put the info for email settings from my church email account (@mosaichouse.ca)... i would like the emails to be sent from the mosaichouse account

Again, not knowing what your email server setup is, we cannot advise much more than this:
1. Look at your email account in Outlook, find the SMTP server name.
2. Look to see under Advanced Options if the SMTP server uses authentication and if it uses a port other than '25'.
For example, if your SMTP server is something like SMTP.mosaichouse.ca and you use a port number of 445, you must enter as the server: smtp.mosaichouse.ca:445.
However, if your system does not use authentication and uses a port of 25, then you may have the same problem I have at another church.
The system uses a POP before Send routine. That is, the ISP expects an email program that first checks for new email, then sends out emails. In this way the ISP first authenticates the user by getting the userid and password from the 'handshake' used to get mail. This then authenticates the user to access the SMTP server.
Unfortunately, the Powerchurch bulk email function has no 'get before send' option, and the only way this can work is by keeping an email program (such as Outlook) setup to always check for new email every 10 minutes or so. The problem is that the email program MUST be setup to access the mosaichouse.ca email address.
If you're trying to access your ISP to send email, but all you have setup in your email program is your personal email address, this won't work.
So, please let us know what the full SMTP server name is, and the port number.

Re: Email error
This is the type of message you get when the user or password is incorrect. You are correctly connecting to the server now.

Re: Email error
I am having the same problem that is mentioned above. I only use my home computer & e-mail program. The SMTP is mail.optonline.net. It does not require authentication & it uses port 25. I have set my e-mail program (Outlook Express) to check for new messages every 2 minutes. Nothing seems to help. I cannot send out my financial reports via e-mail. The test still results in failure with the same message as above. Any other suggestions?

Re: Email error
Your server address is correct, but this article on their web site explains how to set up in Outlook... It says you need user name and password, so you should turn authentication on.
