We have some people who are friends of our church who have asked not to receive mailings. To accomplish this, we have "unchecked" the mailings box on their profile sheets.
Unfortunately, when we send out monthly newsletters for activities they are interested in receiving they do not get them. We choose who gets these mailings by activity code - and thought they would automatically receive mailings because the activity code is noted even though mailings is unchecked. Guess not.
How can we make sure these folks get the mailings they want but not the major mailings which they don't want?

Re: Receiving/not receiving mailings
As you can tell, the mailings box does stop ALL mailings. If there are only certain mailings that you do not want people to get, say churchwide stewardship or others like that, you can create a special code under family mailing list to filter out these families.Melinda Lockwood wrote:We have some people who are friends of our church who have asked not to receive mailings. Can you give us an example of the types of mailing you do NOT want them to get ?

Yes, I can.
Some of these people do not want to receive our "regular" newsletter nor do we want to send them stewardship materials. All they want to receive is the Singles Newsletter. Some others, however, because they are members do receive the regular newsletter and get stewardship mailings as well.
We have all of the singles listed with our activity code for the Singles group, so when we run labels using the singles code, labels are printed for those who are both singles & members but not for singles who are not receiving regular member mailings.

Well, you could create a family profile special code for 'singles', that you could use to filter out the singles.
We do this with the special code, but we use it to list a reason why we would not want a family pulled for a mailing.
Such as:
PO Returned Mailing
Send no Stewardship Info
No longer attends ??
etc, etc.
