W2's Incorrect

Post by Flemingtl »

I just realized that the W2's that I printed aren't right? Two of the employees had Fed Tax held and PC+ has "added" the Fed Tax WH amount to each of their SSI, Medicare and State Tax boxes??

Any ideas why PC+ would do this?

THANKS!

Take a look under Accounting > Payroll > Maintain Item Descriptions. There is a W2 tab on each item, where you choose which boxes on the W2 the item should total into.

If it's income, it would be going into all the boxes marked "wages", deductions would be set as the appropriate "withheld" box, etc.

It sounds like someone went through and checked all the boxes on one or more of the items.

I went there but I don't see a W2 checkbox?
I see a list of check boxes next to tax types such as Fed WH, CA State Income Tax, Soc Sec, etc. but no W2 anywhere on the page? To the left of the list of taxes and check boxes, it says "This income is taxable by what type of taxes:"

Thanks for the reply

What version of Powerchurch are you using??

If you're using V10.x, you would see a screen under item maintenance that looks like this:

If you're using v11.x you'd see this:

This is only happening to two employees, right ??

So, some questions:

1. Are they both salaried or hourly?
2. Are the pay items being affected setup the same as those who are not having these issues ??
For example: Are they both using the same tax item, or are they using married, and others single ??

I should have clarified, I don't really know if it is happening to all employees (I assume it is) because only two had any Fed Tax Withheld.

Also, I know it is adding the Fed WH to the SS, Med and State tax because the Pastor had NO SS or Medicare withholdings and on his W2 it has the same $8597 listed in the SS box and the Med box and $8597 is added to the amount that was held for State Tax.

Thanks!

FWIW ... it definitely sounds like there's a setup issue, and one that may not be fixable via the forum.

It looks like you'll need to give Powerchurch support a call.
