The person who enters the contributions into the computer is responsible for assigning envelope numbers as they go. We have a married couple coming to the church who have different last names. They want one tax statement. They have 2 completely different envelope numbers with contributions listed under both. I tried to reassign one, but the computer won't allow me to do it. It says that envelope is already assigned to another family. Is there a way to merge the two different numbers 192 and 194 into one cohesive family unit?
Thanks!

You need to merge them under one Mailing List record.gospeltab wrote:The person who enters the contributions into the computer is responsible for assigning envelope numbers as they go. V11.5 has made this easier to do, but here's the process.
1. Decide which mailing list record you want to consolidate the names under. We have a family here where we've got them both under the husband's name.
2. Move the spouse under that mailing list record.
3. Change the envelope number of the spouse to the number of the other spouse (For example: John has 201 and Sally has 105, do the number reassignment changing 105 to 201).
4. Delete the moved spouse's mailing list record.
As I mentioned, v11.5 has made the move process much easier, automating much of this for you.
FWIW .. when you print the Contributions Statement, the statement will list both names (IE: John Smith & Mary Jones)

Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
Thanks for the response...I actually did do those steps, but when I tried to delete the account, it warned me that I would lose the contributions associated with it. Unfortunately, both individuals have contributions posted under the 2 different numbers.
Any suggestions for that?

Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
Once they are in the same family, go to Contributions -> Reassign an Envelope number, put in the number you don't want in the first slot and the one you want to keep in the second slot. This will merge all the information from the two envelope numbers into one. Then both profiles should list the same envelope number and both names will appear on the statement.
Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
Yep .. as Zaina pointed out, you missed step 3 in the list I provided.

Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
Perhaps a dumb question but how do you do "Move the spouse under that mailing list record"? I have same situation with both under the same family mailing record but separate personal profiles, each with different envelopes.
Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
oops - found it!
Re: Fixing Envelope Assignment numbers
Aha .. I see you found it, but they should have separate Personal Profiles, just not different numbers if they want all contributions showing up on one list.dsnilsson wrote:oops - found it!
