Greetings,
I am new to PC (ver 11.1) and I would like to know how to split an amount between two (or more) contribution funds. Ex: Mr. Jones gives a $100 check for Tithes and building funds ($60 + $40). Any help is appreciated.

Re: Split Contribution
You would enter two separate contributions. One for each fund for each amount.
Re: Split Contribution
To expand ... I'm assuming you're entering this manually, and not using a check reader, and there are no designations or memo entry needed. I do advise having the Manual open at the Enter Contributions page, or the program open with the Enter Contributions dialog visible so you can follow the flow.
When in the Enter Contributions module ...
Enter the envelope number for the contributor, hit the Enter key (the system will go to the next block)
If you're tracking the check number, enter it (Enter)
Enter the fund number for the first part of the contribution, say 100. (Enter)
Enter the amount of the first contribution, $60
Then hit the Enter key to go through the other entry blocks, and click the SAVE button. You should then be back at the envelope number block. Hit ENTER again to use the same number, and if you're saving check numbers, Enter one more time to get to the Fund Number entry.
Enter the fund number for the second part of the contribution, say 300 (Enter)
Enter the Amount, $40
then hit the ENTER key to get back to the envelope number block and enter the next person's contributions.
Hope this helps.

Re: Split Contribution
Thanks for your reply on this. Basically, I will be splitting the amount of the check (say $40 + $60) between the two funds and enter each amount separately. Essentially, in this instance, the same check number (say 1234) will be entered twice. The only concern I see with this is that, looking at this information at a later time, I have no way to tell if this was indeed a split donation or if the check number (1234) was entered incorrectly for each donation. Am I correct?

If that's a concern you could enter a note on the Memo line for each of the 2 entries involved in the split donation.
Hope this helps,

Re: Split Contribution
Actually, the way it is reported on the Contribution Statements look like this: In the Posted Contributions report it looks like this: As you can see, you can definitely see that you can see its a split donation. If you're entering by hand, all you really need to do is hit the Enter key to travel through the entry boxes to enter data. When you come around to enter the next part of the contribution, you just click through the envelope number and check number box, and just change the fund number, and enter the amount of that part of the contribution.rmorisset wrote:Thanks for your reply on this. If you're using a check reader, you can do the split in the check reader entry box.
