Printing checks out of order

Post by laramiefirst »

I have been printing checks in PC for some time now but just recently I have had some problems. They have started printing out of order and this last time only one out of 15 was correct. The checks are in the right order but they aren't printing alphabetically and so they are all wrong. I have to go in and change all the check numbers. How can I fix this?

No, I just enter the first check number when it asks for it and they print in some random order. I have to go back in and change all the check numbers afterwards. They are listed in Powerchurch in alphabetical order as they used to print out, but there is no order to how they are actually printing.

The system should print out the checks in numerical order and will assign the next sequential number to the invoice. No matter how you entered the invoices, they will be sorted and printed alphabetically, and then issue the check number in that way.

I've just testing this in v11.5 with the latest MR (and I also tested before I installed the MR) and that's the way they print.

You didn't say what version you're using, that may help.

We are using version 11.1 and have not had any problems with it until the last couple of months. I feel I need to clarify, our checks are pre-numbered. When I print checks, I enter the number of the first check in the stack I am using. They used to print alphabetically but for some reason are not now. For example, I just printed 5 checks. In powerchurch they are in the correct numerical and alphabetical order but what prints is something different. The order went from I to B to A to D to M. Not alphabetical and I have to go in and change the numbers in powerchurch now.

I'm sorry to say that no one else has posted here that they are having this type of issue. That said, since it appears that it may be a local issue, some additional questions need to be asked:

1. Are you on the latest Maintenance Release?
2. Have you changed a printer driver or are using a different printer on the network than before?

It may be time to call the Support Line directly.

I have had the same problem for probably a year. Using version 11.1 with current maint. updates. Using preprinted checks. If I have multiple computer checks to print, they do not match up with what is recorded under accounts payable. I have to go in to accts payable and manually correct the check numbers. Same problem occurs with payroll checks. If I only print one computer check or one payroll check, the numbers do match.

Again ... I would call support directly. Unfortunately, they won't be available until Tuesday due to the holiday.

I actually discovered that it was a setting on my printer that was messing things up.

Could you be more specific about the resolution. This will be of help to astrunk1 and any others that might have the same problem in the future.

I totally agree ...

Please list the type of printer, and what setting you had to adjust.

Thanks !!
