year to year individual giving

Our church has been on a vigorous debt repayment program, but giving to the general fund has dropped off. I've been asked to produce a report that shows what each family gave, in each category, over the last five years. The report would have all identifying information scrubbed. After running every report possible and searching both help and the forums, I can't figure out how to do this. The best I can think of is to export each year to Excel and then combine each year, but it seems like a lot of work.

This is what they would like:
Family A 2008 general: $ debt: $
then repeated for 2009-2012 for each family

The Fund Totals By Envelope report should give you exactly what you are looking for. That was added in Version 10, if you are using an older version and don't see that in the list of reports.

All releases since v10 have this report.

Hmmm, you say that the Fund Totals by Envelope report does work for you, but then it seems like it doesn't.

What specifically are you looking for that the Fund Totals by Envelope report does not provide, that you would like to see in future releases?

What my finance board would like is to know how much each person gave in those two funds year by year for comparison purposes. If family A gave 1000 in one fund and 200 in another, what did they give the next year, and so on for five years. Perhaps I'm completely missing something, but I haven't found that report. What I did find was to run the report for each of those five years separately. Now I have to do the comparisons myself, by combining the spreadsheets. If someone can tell me how to run that directly from PowerChurch, I'd be very grateful, as it would save me a lot of time.

I don't believe there is a standard report that does this. What I've done is just print off the report for two years, then merge the printouts, so the 1st page will show families a thru f in 2010, then the 2nd page would show families a thru f for 2011.

I too am looking for year to year comparison reports for pledging and actual contributions without having to cut and paste on an excel spreadsheet. After many tries at custom reporting for this I cannot get one year to appear in one field and another year to appear in a separate field on the same report.

My suggestion is to put together a report format, showing what columns you would like to see on a report, and where the data would be coming from. Add a narrative and be VERY specific on what you are expecting the report to show, and how you want to be able to filter data.

Then mail the format and narrative to Powerchurch, or email to wishlist@powerchurch.com ... it may turn up in the next version
