No ... when you update the data, you're updating the entire database, not just a subset. If you then do a backup from your laptop, to restore to what's on the church, then you may overwrite data added to the database since you took a backup to work on.

My advice, use the free version of the VNC software so that you can work on the server remotely this way you're updating the system directly. http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/index.html

There is a method of importing Contributions. If you go into the Powerchurch HELP, and look under the CONTRIBUTIONS topic, you'll see Import Contributions From File. This will give you the exact format you'll have to have the data formatted for in a CSV text file.

You can also find this data in the printed Powerchurch manual that came with the program.

However, you will HAVE to have the Membership module setup with all the Family Mailing List and Personal Profiles setup with the Envelope Numbers, as well as the Contributions funds setup prior to any Contributions import.

Hello I was thinking been a minute and I want to make sure I'm clear if I'm going to use Powerchurch Plus on the network, I don't have to download the CD on my laptop just map it. Considering that the only way Im able to enter anything that would synch with Server is through the server Map drive is that correct?

The method for networking is in the manual, also listed here:
https://www.powerchurch.com/support/kb.php?id=35&type=1

In step 7 you'll be looking for netsetup115.exe not the one listed there.

That said, you won't be able to work from home doing this method, unless you use a VPN, as it links to the executable on the server.
