Entered in wrong account

Post by nbccji »

If I logged $500 in an account then realized it should have been under another account, what's the best way to correct this?
Thank you for taking the time to help, Katie

Are you talking in Contributions or Funds Accounting ??

In either case, if you haven't yet posted the transactions, you can go into the Unposted Transactions queue and edit the transaction to change the account.

If you've already posted:

1. If this was in Contributions, you would need to access the person's contributions and reverse that original contribution, then reenter using the original date and amount, but the correct Contribution Fund. Then post everything to Funds Accounting where the proper transactions will be created to adjust the system.

2. If this was in Funds Accounting, you'd have to access the Posted Transactions module, then reverse the original transaction. You'd then enter a new transaction using the original date, but with the correct account.

Hope this helps.
