I am a volunteer treasurer for a church using PowerChurch v.10, and I am installing a copy of the program on my personal laptop so I can view data and create reports (no changing or entering new data) from home.
I have installed the software on my laptop but am unsure about how to navigate the setup since we already have everything set up on the main copy in the church office. After I have completed the setup, I will also need some guidance on downloading the backup data to my laptop.
Thank you!

On the church computer, in PowerChurch Plus, go to Utilities > Backup & Restore > Backup Files.
On your home computer, in PC+, go to Utilities > Backup & Restore > Restore Files.

Another suggestion. I use my home laptop for the same purposes. When I do backup at the church, I not only back up locally, but I also back up to our Dropbox account. I can then just restore from the Dropbox backup when I'm at home. The 2 gig Dropbox account is free. I have found this to be a very useful tool as well as a redundant backup.

Its an online 'cloud' storage location. http://www.dropbox.com/pricingelidajacobs wrote:What is a Drop box account? I was wanting to do the same thing.....Elida Jacobs
The basic account is free with 2GB of storage, the next level gives you 50GB for about $10 a month.
I just use an external USB hard drive that we backup to, along with an old USB Iomega ZIP drive that still works fine. We backup daily to the USB hard drive, and weekly to the ZIP drive.

I have also setup PowerChurch on Desktop and Laptop to work at home.

Re: Installing a copy of PowerChurch on personal computer
Depends on what was changed, and how you do backups. My advise is always move backups from the office machine, and never do changes on the home computer as the office is more likely the one to be changed without you knowing about it, and the office computer should be the database of record !!lucastaska wrote:I have also setup PowerChurch on Desktop and Laptop to work at home.
