Contributions Report Selected Contributors bug?

We are trying to find a $750 contribution in 2012 from a contributor who has given many $1000s of dollars.

In Contributions / Reports / Selected Contributors, we set the amount range from $750 to $750 and the date to Last Year.

Nothing.

So I changed the range of dollars to $700 to $800. What it produced was a list of contributors who gave between $700 and $800 total for the year.

That's not what I expected. I expected a list of individual contributions in that range, not totals for the entire year.

Are my expectations incorrect?

I don't believe that it was designed with individual contributions in mind, it was always a yearly (or year to date) total.

That said, is the amount over an above what he usually gave ?? You may be able to use the Monthly Contribution Totals report to see the anomaly.

Better yet, the Posted Contributions report will list all the contributions per envelope per fund. You'll have to look through it, but it will get you the data you need.

The Selected Contributors report is going to report on the total dollar given during that date range. The selection is by the total, not each individual contribution.

The Posted Contributions report would show individual contributions, but does not have an option to select by dollar amount. That probably is a good idea to be able to select by dollar amount, so I will get that written up.

In the mean time, the only option really would be a custom report. If that is all the selection, it should not be too hard to do.

The problem was that one of many $750 this person gave was apparently assigned to the wrong envelope number.

The easiest way to find it is to search by amount.

The second best way is to give the person a detailed print out of their giving and let them see which check is missing.

Right now, the search criteria requires a time period. I want to find a single $750 offering regardless of the time period (even though I know it was during 2012). It would seem like there should be an amount field that is totally free of date range.

Another option in this case would be to use the Posted Contributions report. Once it is on the screen, you can use the report search to search for "750" this would let you find other 750 contributions.
