Reversing Contributions

Post by wcdavenp »

I have created a batch within the Contribution module which is currently sitting in the Fund Accounting module to be posted. However, I have now realized that I made some errors that need to be corrected prior to posting. Is there a way to correct the errors that were posted to the individual donors within the contribution module without having to post the entry in fund accounting then reversing it?

If the Funds Account transactions are OK, then you can reverse the contributions in Contributions, then post the changes using the "Post to Contributions Only" option of the Post Contribution function.

However, if your contribution reversals and reentries do change the amount of income going to the various income accounts or accounting funds, you should do a regular post to Funds Accounting, as the new transactions will adjust Funds Accounting properly.

Thanks Neil! I think I am going to post the entry then reverse it since the amount of the transaction will change. Will the reversals show up on the donors given statements?

No, the reversals will be transparent to the donors.
