Need to correct beginning expense balance

Post by rschlosser »

Hi,

I checked and rechecked my accounting setup assistant COA and balances. I had trouble losing
my connection, which caused loss of data. Somehow,
a beginning balance I re-entered several times and
verified via report before closing out the setup assistant now shows the wrong beginning
balance. I have two expense accounts for which I need to add to the beginning balances.
My checking account balance and all other account balances are correct, so I cannot see how to post journal entries to add to the expenses.
Is there another way to correct beginning balances of just one or two expense accounts without having
to delete old data on all accounts and run the setup again?

BTW: Does the online program autosave? If not, how does one save entered data without
having to exit the program (and select "save" before exiting)?

Thank you!

A beginning balance in expenses would look like this:
DB 01-5231-000 some expense
CR 01-3110-000 unrestricted net assets

I don't know what schedule the online system's backup is on. I know that we are required to make our own backups for our own use.

You can run Utilities / Backup and Restore / Backup anytime without having to exit the program.

Just a quick technical note about Powerchurch Online. I would not be doing any major updates if you're having connectivity problems. Anything you enter, then click OK on will be saved in the database. As far as server backups, I would give a call to Powerchurch support directly to see what they do.

In my personal opinion, I don't know what type of connection you're using however, if you're using a wireless network connection I'd make sure that you have a very good or better connections.

Neil and John,

Thank you! I will enter the je's as you posted. Our current network setup is being revamped,
so our connectivity issues should be resolved soon. We are trying to get everything switched
from one financial system and computer system to another before too much of the year
goes by.

I have not had any additional connectivity issues lately, but will be sure to back up all data
regularly.

Thanks again!
