Hello,
We are New to Power Church and are ready to input contributions which include a backlog from January for a small church. We have contribution envelopes, amounts and check/cash amount and unfortunaltely no check numbers. How important is it to record check numbers on statements?
We could go back and review the bank statements? Any helpful tips.
Thanks

Re: No Check Numbers
Depends ... I've been a member of congregations that tracked the numbers, and others that don't. Having the number does help when a member has a question about a contribution. You can then give them the check number, and they can check their statements to verify the amount that cleared their bank.RC_USER wrote:Hello,

However, in your case you don't need to start inputting the check number for the backlog, that's a lot of research for something that may never be needed. I would start recording the number on all future contributions if you want to record the number.
Here's a hint, if you get a check reader to input contributions, it automatically reads the check number and stores it for you.

Thank You so much...
Another thing...I did run across 2 or 3 envelopes without a check or cash indication. How should i proceed entering them?
Thanks

In this case, I'd err on the side of cash ... after all, you've probably already cashed it if it was a checkRC_USER wrote:Thank You so much...
