I am new to powerchurch but I am learning quickly.
Someone donated money specifically for the youth ministry, but I don't have an income account for that. Where do you put contributions that don't have a specific income account or should I make additional income accounts?
Should I use Miscellaneous Income with several designations?
Another problem, this contribution was given in exchange for volunteer work at their house so it is not tax-deductible. Correct?

Re: Contributions to a specific ministry
You should probably set up some specific income accounts, as misc income will become cluttered quickly.
You are also correct that this is not tax deductible.
I assume you are using the default chart-of-accounts.
The number scheme lets you create new, unrestricted income accounts within the range:
01-4020-000 and 01-4200-000.
You first need to go to Fund Accounting / Setup / Maintain Chart of Accounts
ADD
Detail
Income
4030-000 (or whatever numbering scheme you devise)
Level 4 [next][next]
01 General Fund
[next]next]
Finish
Then go into Contributions and create a new Contribution Fund 110 (or whatever numbering scheme you devise).
Contributions / Setup / Maintain List of Contribution Funds
ADD
110
[uncheck box that says "include fund on statements"] (because it's not tax-deductible)
[Accounting tab]
DB Bank 01-1110-000
CR Income 01-4030-000

Re: Contributions to a specific ministry
Thank you. I did do as you said.
Is there a way to designate the money in the Misc. Income account? I know you can designate contributions, but is there a way to designate money in that Misc. Income account?
Thanks again.

One way is to go into Fund Accouting / Setup / Maintain Chart of Accounts and add sub-accounts under misc.
Instead of 4030-000 add 4030-001 or something like that.
Or...
after you post in Contributions, you can go into Fund Acccounting / Modify Unposted Transactions and change the Description there, then post in Fund Accounting.
