Adding a level 2 account into COA

I would like to add a level 2 account into the chart of accounts, but the program only wants me to add accounts between levels 4 and 6. What is it I need to do to make this work?

Only a group account can be level 2. Sounds like you are trying to add a detail account.

A group account is what I am trying to do - maybe am going about this the wrong way, because it is only wanting me to add in a detail account.

Where are you adding the account from? Some places where you can add an account, like the Maintain List of Donor Restrictions or Maintain Contribution Funds, are only designed to add detail accounts.

If you go to Accounting -> Fund Accounting -> Setup -> Maintain Chart of Accounts, you should be able to add a group account.
