Custom Report Error message

Post by ktuttleodbctx »

I have PowerChurch Plus 9. My situation: I enter contributions and posted them. At that point, I was able to get into the custom reports to make the changes and print reports. I realized I made some mistakes. After fixing the mistakes in the contributions for the first custom report, I was able to print the new report. When I fixed the mistakes in the second report and tried to reprint the second custom report, an error message popped up. It readed, "A required file could not be opened. Please try again. If the problem continues, contact Technical Support." I am not sure what happed, or how to fix the problem. Please help!

Version 9 is now 7 or 8 years old (at least) but we can try to help here. Did you try to close and restart the program? Often a 'required file' error means that a local file is still being held open by a program instance.

I would close and restart to see what is happening.

As an aside, I would also suggest that your organization budget for an upgrade to version 11.55. Version 9 is no longer being supported with any maintenance releases, and the newer versions give you much more flexibility with Contributions, as well as Membership & Funds Accounting.

An upgrade from v.9 is only $149.00, and the system will convert all of the Membership & Contributions data for you. Funds Accounting is also a quick conversion, although the Payroll module has been completely redone, so while existing data will be converted, you do need to setup some items in Payroll which have been improved.

I ended up calling tech support. I tried restarting the program and the computer to no avail. Tech support is looking at it now and hopefully can figure out what is going on. Thank you for your reply! :D

Let us know what they find. That said, I still advise moving to v11.55 for the updates and the improvements.

They had to remotely look at my computer. They found a file was missing to operate the custom report function. I will be taking to my boss about an upgrade. Thank you for your help.
