Contribution Posted to Expense Account instead of Income Acc

Post by horizonbc »

I accidentally posted some contributions to an Expense account instead of the Corresponding Income Account. Information has already been posted in December, and it is now March. How can I move move the amounts from Expense to Income without messing the banking information. Thank You.

Since you deposited the funds, you don't have to touch the checking or bank account in any way.

Look at the original transaction, I suspect you CREDITED the expense account when you posted that, so you need to DEBIT the expense account, and credit the proper INCOME account.

That said, I hope that the month of December is open, as this should be done in that month.
