July Postings

Post by MVA »

Hi,
Apparently I'm missing something here... July postings are not being posted.

Do I have to go forward a month, or something?
PowerChurch Plus 11.55
Thanks.

If you go to your working month and try to change it do you have the option of setting it to July? If not you will need to close a month. If you don't have 18 months available to post to, you could increase that under preferences if 11.55 works the same as 11.1.

Yes, Eugene is correct.

In order to post to July, you need to change to that working month. The default setting for Powerchurch v11.x is having six (6) months open at one time. As you can see, it does limit you as you may need to go back to January or earlier in order to void a check that has not yet been cashed, adjust a Contribution entry, and so on.

As he mentioned, you can set Powerchurch to have 18 months open at any one time. This is actually quite handy if you have to make adjustments to the previous end-of-year entries, etc.

The setting for this can be changed by your Powerchurch admin. They have to sign in to the program, head to File -> Preferences -> Accounting Setup. Then select the FUND ACCOUNTING tab. In the middle of that dialog is the setting for Number of months that can be open at one time. Set that to 18 if its not already.

OK .. so you've had Powerchurch set for 18 months, and you haven't had to do anything except change the Working Month until now. Well, you have to close a month in order to then change the working month. To do that head to Accounting -> Fund Accounting -> Close Month. The system will pop up a dialog that says

Warning: You are about to close the month of xxxxxx 201x. Once the month is close ... and so on. Its basically saying if you do this, you won't be able to post anything to that month. If you've had 18 months set to be open, it shouldn't be a problem, so click on the YES button.

Then head back to the Fund Accounting menu, and select the item to Change Working Month. You should find that July is now available to switch to.

Hope this helps.
