Balance Sheet Vs. Balance Sheet by Fund Report

Post by SBCTrustee »

Hello everyone,

I found out the hard way that there could be quite a difference between the balance sheet report amounts & the balance sheet by fund report.

I selected to include unposted amounts on the balance sheet report & made incorrect JE based upon it because I had earlier printed a balance sheet by fund report. It looks like the balance sheet by fund report does not include unposted transactions. Should there be a selection (yes/No) to include or not include unposted data?

I would recommend that when you print balance sheets and income statements that you do not check the box to include unposted transactions. Because unposted transactions can be deleted, I would never rely on a financial report that included them. This is just a feature that gives you the opportunity to see what your financial statements will look like before posting transactions. This can be helpful in detecting errors before the postings are made.
