Removing bad contribution input

Post by SBCTrustee »

Hello Everyone,
As I was auditing some unposted contributions (PC+ v.9) i found two inputs thus:
  • 1) contribution date blank
    2) Envelope # 0
    3) Fund not found
    4) Amt 0
    5) Entered by field Blank
I have found the record in "Modify contribution" but I can't delete it. I re-indexed but that did not solve the problem. I can't post the three unposted contribution dates entries because of the above input error.

What can I do?

Tom

Tom,

After I have posted and pull up Modify Unposted Contrib. it still shows:

Env. No -0
Fund -0
Total Unposted -$0

Those can't be modified unless I click the Add button, but then I can't save it with the zeros, PowerChurch won't let me.
Maybe the entry you see is the default beginning entry and it's not really a problem.

What are the 3 dates...are those actual contributions? or do you have 3 cases of $0 entries?
When does the error message pop up?
Have you run the Unposted Contribution report? Do they appear on it?

Bad Input-More Details

Post by SBCTrustee »

Hello Everyone,

The problem that I mentioned eariler is thus. I always audit our input after the fact. There are three weeks of contributions that I had not had a chance to audit before I posted them. When went to pulled up a unposted contribution report, the system offered men four dates with one of them only showing a blank date format. Orginally, I pulled up an unposted contribution report for that blank date. It showed a "new member" with only his name showing, no amount given, or fund designation, & no "enterd by" name.

I suspect that someone tried to enter this person as a "new member" thru the contribution module. I orginally found his profile. He had no number assigned. When I tried to delete his profile or assign a number to him, the system said that I could not change his number or delete him because he had unposted contributions.

Somehow I was able to delete his profile, but the report shows something still in the system. It won't let me post anything. We had a lot of network problems a couple of weeks ago.

Help!!!

Kristi is right if there are NO records inthe unposted file then when you go into the maintain unposted contributions, it will show a blank record. However if you have unposted cotributions entered you should not see a blank record as the system should not let you enter a blank contribution.

You said it is showing a new member on the suspect contribution entry. This is probably because they don't have an envelope number and it is finding the first available envelope number '0' and they happen to be it.

You probably need to call support to have us help you delete the entry. I don't know how it could have got there because each contribution entry is required to have an envelope number, fund number date and amount before PC+ will allow you to enter it. Support can also look to make sure that the file has not become corrupted somehow.
