Contribution Codes Not Visible in Accounting Setup
I'm trying to muddle my way through setting up PowerChurch. I have all of the membership information in and then moved to setting up the contribution codes. I started using the Accounting Setup Assistant and got as far as the Contribution Income options and realized that I had left out some contribution codes. I went back and edited/added some codes and came back to the accounting setup. My new codes are not showing up, so I don't know what to do!! Its my understanding that if I select unrestricted, the accounts will appear in the chart of accounts. What should I do to ensure that my contribution codes and descriptions appear correctly? Can I add them manually in the accounting setup, and if I do, what about the numbers that I assigned to each of the codes? Thanks so much!!
Re: Contribution Codes Not Visible in Accounting Setup
Accounting setup will add Contribution Funds (not codes) during that setup. As you noticed, you then have to go into Contributions -> Setup -> Maintain List of Contribution Funds to modify or add to these. The setup assistant will ask if you want income accounts setup and will do so. This does NOT happen when you go and add Contribution Funds after setup.antiochmbc wrote:I'm trying to muddle my way through setting up PowerChurch. When you do that you have to have the Income Accounts in the Chart of Accounts FIRST. Then you can go back to the Maintain List of Contribution Funds, and point the Contribution Fund to the INCOME ACCOUNT from the Accounting Tab of the fund.
You can find 'context sensitive' help on this by pressing the F1 key when in the Maintain List of Accounting Funds screen.
FWIW ... Contribution FUNDS will NOT appear in the chart of accounts, these are used in the Contribution Module only. The only link between the Contribution Fund and the Chart of Accounts, is through the Accounting tab on each Contribution Fund record. Entering the DEBIT (bank) and CREDIT (Income) Account there allows the system to create the transactions when you post contributions. These transactions are then posted in Funds Accounting to the system.

Thanks so much --- I appreciate your help. Still a little confusing but I just have to work through it.

My suggestion is to get out the user manual, and have it near you.antiochmbc wrote:Thanks so much --- I appreciate your help. Still a little confusing but I just have to work through it.
As a new user you may want to invest in some of the online tutorials offered by Powerchurch. They may eliminate some confusion.
