Account names and funds

Post by dpetherbridge »

Can you have different account names for the same number for different funds.

For example, can 5401 be called Bank Fees in fund 01 and 5401 be called Advertising in fund 02?

Thanks
Dan

Simple answer ... no.

The reason for that is that many churches want to see spending in a certain category, say bank fees, across all funds.

Thanks, then is there a way to change an account number for a fund once you have already used it? In my example could I change 5401 on fund 02 to say, 5405 then name it accordingly?

You can go into the Chart of Accounts and change the number to one that is not being used. You can then change the name. Just remember that the number and name would span all funds. You may not use that account in the other funds, but if you do it will have to be the same name.

Thanks, but how will that "fix" the items I already have posted under the fund that I want to change?

For example if I posted transactions for 02-5401 but want it to be (now a new account), 02-5405, how will PC know that it is changed and adjust all the prior entries?

The system will update all the previous entries to reflect the new number.
