Is it possible to export the Directory information to Excel for editing/manipulation?
The Directory from PC prints inactive (adult) children and deceased spouses, and I need to remove those and not have them in our new directory.

Re: Directory to Excel
When running a Church Directory report, on the second step labeled "Which Personal Profiles do you want to include in the directory" there is a Personal Status code selection at the bottom left. Click the ALL button and exclude the statuses of people you don't want to include in the report.
To answer your actual question, you can save the report as various file types, including Excel XLS, by clicking the Save As button (floppy disk icon) in the Report Preview toolbar once you have the report up on the screen. If you have the report set to include family pictures, then the only Save As option will be PDF. In that case, however, you can still edit PDFs in Word.
If after making the Personal Status selections, you still have things that need to be manually edited outside of PowerChurch, it's a good idea to make the necessary updates to the person's information in PowerChurch, rather than editing the report output, so you only have to do it one time.

Re: Directory to Excel
Can the directory or other membership info somehow be exported so it doesn't look like this:
I need it in columns: Last name, First name, Street address, City, State, Zip, E-mail, Phone.
We need it so that we can do things like print nametags, print envelopes, print letters, set up an online directory, etc....

Re: Directory to Excel
Well--the forum cleaned up the look! (Ha!)
The data is actually spread out across 10 excel columns, with no headers and most of the columns being blank.

Re: Directory to Excel
You can export data by going to Membership > Personal Profiles > Other Output. Choose Export Data.
The same menu option is available in Family Mailing List, but that would just be one record per household instead of one per person.

Re: Directory to Excel
Based on what you want to do "print nametags, print envelopes, print letters, set up an online directory, etc...."
You may want to look at using the EXPORT function instead of the Directory report. You can select the data you want to export and save it to various data formats.

Re: Directory to Excel
I export the data to Excel, but it doesn't come out in columns. It comes as blobs (Technical term?) of data, and I then have to manually move addresses to the Address column, and phone numbers to a Phone number column, etc etc etc. Luckily, we are a small church, so this is possible, but the "export to excel" should render a usable excel document, not what seems to be the PDF version slapped into Excel cells.
Is there any way to get the membership data (names, addresses, e-mails, phones, etc) into columns?

Re: Directory to Excel
Then you're NOT using the proper export function, as it will create a CSV file which DOES put the data into columns. Apparently you're just using the save function from the Directory report. You don't want to do this.CUUCSW wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:59 pmI export the data to Excel, but it doesn't come out in columns. You want to head to Membership -> Family Mailing List -> Other Output -> Export Data.
