Email Field in Family Mailing List

Post by VICRAMZ »

When I try to enter an email address in the Family Mailing List screen, I run out of space after 15 or so characters. How do I enter an email address for the family? Can I send a group email based on family email addresses?

Thanks.

Email addresses are handled as personal information in PowerChurch, so there's not a field in Family Mailing List meant to accept them. As a result, there's no group email in Family Mailing List either.

Thanks for the quick response.

One question, though. If email addresses are considered personal information, as opposed to family information, then, why, on the family mailing list screen, right side, does it show "Email" as one of the options for the three contact fields for the family?

Moreover, wouldn't the same logic apply to cell phones?

Again, thanks for the promptness.

Yes, the same logic does apply to cell and work phones. I think the field you're referring to is a user-defined field, so someone at some point must have entered that there. I don't see the same thing in a fresh install.

Actually, now that I think about it, you're probably referring to the three phone fields on the Family Mailing List screen. That's why there are only 15 characters. The labels on those fields are user maintained, so someone has put email as an option. It probably shouldn't be there.

Thank you for pointing out that the labels are user maintained. Looks like we didn't think through the implications of our setup.
