Upgrading from Windows NT 4 Server to Windows 2003 Server

Post by goodshepherd »

We are switching from a Windows NT 4 Server to a Windows 2003 Server, how would I make sure that PowerChurch Plus 9 is successfully transferred to the new server. We currently make backups of the entire PowerChurch directory to CD.

You want the easiest way to do this:

1. Forget the backup of the directory .. do a data backup.
2. Install PC+ on the new machine, with all maintenance releases.
3. Give full access to all network users (heck the program has internal security, why add another layer)
4. Restore from the backup.
5. Run NETSETUP9 on all the client computers to reset the registry entries to point to the new server location.

We did this, saved alot of time.

Restoring PC data

That worked without a hitch, except me forgetting to give the shared Powerchurch folders full access.... We are up and running with no problems.
