large check numbers

We are now receiving on-line checks from banks; however, the check number is too large to fit in the check number field - currently set for 6 digits. Is there a way to expand this field?

FWIW ... why not just enter the last six digits of the check number, since this number would be meaningless to a contributor. To them, they're sending the contribution via online payment.

However, we use a check reader on the 'loose checks' and it can read the entire check number on these checks. It may only be an entry screen issue.
