Accidentally backed up instead of restored data

Hey all!
I've made a terrible mistake and accidentally used the back up feature on my flash drive and then with my master copy of CD-RW. (Yes, I was in a hurry) When I needed to restore the drive from my church computer to the home computer, I backed the data instead. Now I've lost data on both sets of storage.
I'm overwhelmed. I will have to start over with my printout reports? Anyone ever done this and how do I begin?

If all you're doing is restoring to your home computer, and not to the church computer, then you really do not have anythiing to worry about.

Just backup the church's copy of Powerchurch, then restore to your home computer. When you restore from the backup, all previous data is overwritten by the new restoration, it is not 'cumulative' so you have not 'lost' anything.

Also, Powerchurch automatically creates a new filename each time it backs up, so I suspect that the file you want to restore from is still located on either your flash, or your CD.

All you need to do is select the correct file from the list that PC+displays when you do the restore.

So, I lost the previous months' data. But that's not all, I restored the church computer from there, and both computers have "lost" all my February accounts payable. My contributions are all there, but not all the bills I paid

I realized what I did and tried to go back on the CD-RW, but I couldn't find the correct backup data.

I'm lost.

What you may need to do is backup from the last good backup you made. Last week or the week before.

Then you're going to have to try and recover all your information by hand.

Here's a big question, are you only backing up the accounting files ?? Does anyone else backup the entire system? I hope there is, as that is something that should be done weekly, no matter what. You could use that backup to restore to.

Finally, while keeping the books at home, and shuffling the backup to and fro seems like a good idea. As you can see, mistakes do happen. Trying to keep things in sync can blow up in your face. You may want to consider what we do here, that is our treasurer accesses the system from her home using GoToMyPC. She can do everything she needs to do via that connection, even print checks on her local printer.

This removes any problem with syncing or overwriting good data.
