Personalizingmembership info?
I am very new to PowerChurch, I would like to organize the new membership files, so that I may know who are the people that I have personally contacted. Also I would like to know how can I organize the members according to different interactions. For example action1 is sent thank you letter, the action 2 is sent gift, action 3 is visited home. Thank you

There are custom codes that can be defined on both the Family Mailing List record (which stores household information) and the Personal Profiles record (which stores personal information).
Depending on how you are wanting to track the visits and gifts, by family or individual, you would choose one area or the other to set up the codes.
Under the File > Preferences > and either Family Mailing List or Personal Profiles Setup menu, there is a Codes tab. On this, you can "name" the field "Contact" or whatever you choose.
Under the Membership > Family Mailing List or Personal Profiles > Maintain Custom Codes, you can fill in the different options for your new "Contact" field, such as: No action, Letter, Gift, Visit.
On each Family or Personal record, as you perform these actions, update their record with the new action in your new custom code field.
Hope this helps!

So I was able to perform that function but I am still not sure how to use it. For the first field I put my initials NRD, and the second field, such as : no action, letter, gift, visit i put Student, Indian, Large Donor etc as different categories of classification. I am not sure if I am using those fields in the proper method. Nor am i sure how to find the contacts who are labled in that field.Zorak wrote:There are custom codes that can be defined on both the Family Mailing List record (which stores household information) and the Personal Profiles record (which stores personal information).

So there are just three things that I would like to accomplish,
1. to be able to label or code my contacts so that I can distingush which contacts i have entered verse contacts that other users have entered
2. to be able to label or code my contacts according to different categories, such as: student, East Indian, Large Donor, Interested in Cooking Classes, Interesed in Yoga Classes,
3. most important, to be able to find such contacts based on those codes of classification.
Thank you very much for your time and patience

HI ... basically, Zorak passed on the best way to keep track of these contacts, outside of using the Visitations module.NityanandaRam wrote:

However, you could create some activities and assign activities to each person you visit. I suggest reading the Activities module portion of the manual which may give you additional ideas.

I am still not clear how to use the categorized enteries. How can one compile a list of the different members according to their category?NeilZ wrote:HI ... basically, Zorak passed on the best way to keep track of these contacts, outside of using the Visitations module.NityanandaRam wrote:

You have explained how to make a category, but I am not seeing an explanation of how to use such categories, what is the process of compiling list, or views of the different entries in their different categories?
Thank you
