Need Help With Contribution "Add Contributor"

Post by RevWJones »

Please answer this question:

Why can't I add a "contributor" to an existing family? We have husbands and wives visiting who donate to us separately (each w/their own checks). Why do I have to create two families for them? As a data entry person, I have only "Access" rights to the Membership Profiles Module. So I can't add them under the Profiles Modules.

Any help will do.

You should not have to create a 'new family' for them, however, you can edit an existing record. In fact, this is the way I trained my teams of counters to do ANY new person not found in the database as it usually works for all situations.

Here are the steps:

If you come across a 'new' check from a person not listed in the database:

1. Click on New Contributor
2. Enter only the Last Name of the person. If the last name is already in the PERSONAL PROFILES area of the database, the system will present a list of people with that last name, or last names beginning with what you typed in.
IE: Entering Brown will bring up a list of people with the last name beginning with Brown, such as Brown, Browning, Brown-Smith, etc
3. Look for the name of the person who wrote the check in the list, highlight it, then select the NEXT button.
4. On the next screen, you can verify the address info, click NEXT.
5. On the next screen, you can then either change the envelope number to a new number, or just assign a number depending on what you need to do with this person, then click NEXT
6. You'll be back at the standard manual Contributions Entry screen with the persons name and new envelope number filled in.

Hope this helps!
