Process Payroll now saves your progress, in case you need to step away or are otherwise interrupted before finishing
According to the latest update for PC 14, the Payroll module will now "Process Payroll now saves your progress, in case you need to step away or are otherwise interrupted before finishing". Where in the process of entering payroll do you select payroll to "save"? When I step away and PC closes itself down/times out, my progress is still lost and I have to start all over again?

If you manually close the process before finishing, it will ask if you want to save the progress. When you print checks or stubs or create direct deposit file, it saves the progress automatically.
So, the way that the functionality is currently designed, it will automatically save your progress after you get to the point of actually starting to issue Payroll transactions. If you have just entered the check date and pay period, it's not automatically saving that. I will forward your post along as a suggestion for that functionality to be reviewed in the next version of the software, assuming that you hadn't gotten to the point of issuing Payroll transactions when you stepped away and the PowerChurch Online session timed out after an hour of inactivity.
In the meantime, clicking Cancel to close Process Payroll when you are stepping away will ask if you want to save the progress.

Just filling in the details: I was in the middle of entering pay hours when I stepped away unexpectedly. I did not manually close the payroll module and was not away from my computer for over an hour for it to time out. PC just closed (no other network connectivity shut down).

It just closing is not a normal thing. We're talking about the classic version of Powerchurch, and not Powerchurch Online, right?umc.manatee wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 11:09 amJust filling in the details: I was in the middle of entering pay hours when I stepped away unexpectedly. It just says PowerChurch Plus+ Version 14.4. And yes, it just closes at random times (not consistently).

There has to be something on your computer that closes it. There is nothing in the program that turns itself off, I've kept the program open for 3 or 4 hours without touching it.umc.manatee wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 10:12 amIt just says PowerChurch Plus+ Version 14.4. I looked it up and your church has the PowerChurch Online service. That is just a remote installation of PowerChurch Plus that you're accessing from across the internet.
In any case, the PowerChurch Online servers will disconnect you after an hour of inactivity. If you are getting disconnected after less than an hour of inactivity, then it sounds like you probably have a power saving scheme on your local computer that puts the network hardware to sleep after a certain point, which would cause you to lose connection to the server, ending your PowerChurch Online session.
