Transfer between Bank Accounts

Post by Karen Musser »

Can anyone give me tips on how to handle transfers between several bank accounts in PC? I'd like to keep the bulk of the funds in an account that earns more interest and then simply transfer to my "Working account" as needed. Any suggestions on how to handle this in PC that it doesn't have to be reflected in the various funds?

Are all of the bank accounts in the same accounting fund? If so these transfers are easy to do and won't show up on your income and expense statement. Just debit the "working" account and credit the account earning the interest when making a transfer, or vice versa. If the accounts are in different accounting funds it gets more complicated. You can still accomplish the transfers but you will need to also debit and credit the 9000 series transfer accounts in the different funds when doing the postings. The 9000 series account postings will also show up on the income and expense statement for each affected fund.

That's the problem -- we use ~90 different funds so the money is held throughout all these funds.

90 funds?! Wow, that's a lot! Yes, you will have a bit of a challenge on your hands to do these transfers then. Hopefully there's a few funds that have the bulk of the money that you want to transfer. I'd just transfer the money in these funds and leave the rest alone.
