Can you use an Apple Xserve to host PC data files?

Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Can you use an Apple Xserve to host PC data files?

Post by edbdtoes »

Hello All,

I have a mixture of both PC and Mac computers at our church. We are about 80% Mac and 20% PC. The only use for Power Church that we currently have is for our accounting staff.

Does anybody know of any issues that might arise from putting the PowerChurch data on the Apple Xserve? It is my understanding that PowerChurch is just looking at the data on the server and does not require that the server run any software.

I'm not sure of any reason why that shouldn't work, as long as you are able to share a directory on the Mac that can be accessed read/write from the PCs running PowerChurch.

Map a network drive from the PC, and install PowerChurch to that mapped drive, and it should be just fine.
