Reconciling Bank Deposits

Post by Lbuford »

I know this may be a "no-brainer" for most of you, but I'm still learning my way around in PowerChurch. For some reason, my predecessor did not perform reconciliations with PowerChurch, and we aim to correct that. Where should I input contribution bank deposits in PowerChurch to ensure they appear on the Reconciliation list for clearance? Thank you in advance to anyone who can assist.

Contributions should be entered through the contribution modules. Once you 'post' those contributions from within the contribution module, and based on how you choose to post those contributions, it will show up from within fund accounting, allowing you to reconcile through the reconciliation feature.

Our church setup is a bit different in that we have two, non-connected installs of PC+ that separate the contribution side from the fund-accounting side. So, in that way we update fund accounting with contributions via file import.

If you have fund accounting (including payroll, accounts payable) and contributions on the same installation computer (or use PC online), then you simply post the contributions, and fund accounting should update. You may have to post transactions in fund accounting after they are posted in the contributions module (someone else may verify, as I cannot recall off-hand because we do it via importing contribution files).

Once transactions (contributions, payroll, accounts payable) are posted in fund accounting, they become visible on the reconciliation page to clear out.
Hope this helps a little.

If you haven't changed the default Post Contribution settings, it does post directly to Funds Accounting. No need for any manual intervention.

If you're trying to catch up with previous deposits made, you'll need to enter those deposits via Funds Accounting as manual transations, as you can't send previously posted Contributions if they were posted to Contributions only.
