Are you using the accounting and contribution modules

Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

I know of three separate churches that are using the full program; membership, contributions & accounting. There are many pluses to this:

1. One place for all membership info. No having to duplicate it in a separate contributions system.
2. One place for all contributions to be tracked. Satisfies the IRS requirements.
3. Networked capability ... people can be working in two separate modules at the same time across a network, without additional charges.

There are some minuses, mostly in the fact that not many people understand double entry accounting any more, nor do they understand fund accounting. However, I see that as a training issue, not a programmatic issue.

What I love about it:

You have the Contributions (Income) kept separate from the Accounts Payable/Funds Accounting (check writing/reports). There is no overlap, so its very easy to keep that division, and to have two separate people (whether employees or volunteers) doing the work of the Contributions Secretary and the Treasurer/Bookkeeper.

There's a built-in audit trail that reflects any changes to financial areas (v11.x) whether Contributions or Accounting.

There's plenty more, but its late and I'm tired :)

Thanks, fantastic response and directed right to the Information we needed. I to believe it is in the training and we intend to get a consultant to come in to help us set up the Accounting module --correct information input in the initial phase is mandatory. Would you be OK with our Treasurer contacting you at your church to talk further I am the Finance Secretary and utilize the contribution module and I am very satisfied with the data entry, processing, and retrieval capabilities --I have only Kudos for Powerchurch

I have no problem with that, but realize, I'm just a user as you are. All that I've learned I've learned from use, and the forums here.
