Duplicate Contribution Files Uploaded

Post by KBoyd »

Sure hope somebody can help on this one.

We inadvertently uploaded the same contribution file twice (same date). When I look at the unposted contribution report I can clearly see the duplicate entries for that date. Is there anyway to reverse the duplicate upload before posting? Or will I have to upload the whole thing and then reserve dozens of duplicate entries?

Please help if you can...

If they are still unposted, you can just delete the duplicate entries from the Modify Unposted Contributions Screen.

If they have been posted already, you could delete old data in contributions and then reimport the contributions to add them back. In this case if you are also using accounting you may have some work to get the deposits to the right amount in Fund Accounting.

That worked - they were unposted. Pretty tedious doing them in Modify Unposted Contributions one at a time for dozens of entries, but it's done and Thank You!

One thing that I try to do is to make a backup of contribution files before I upload the next data file. Once I verify that the file was correctly uploaded, I then post the contributions. If I find that I've inadvertently uploaded the file twice, then I can simply restore the contributions to the previous version prior to upload and upload again. Now, the caution here is that if you have made any changes in contributions at same time as upload, the restore to previous version will remove those changes.

Makes this a little less tedious but you do have to be careful when you restore that you use the right version of the contributions files.
