I am sure this has been asked but I could not find any related posts so I will ask anyway.
We have started PCP January 2015. I have gone back and entered all of 2014 from quickbooks so we could have a comparison report 2014 vs. 2015.
The problem is when posting 2014 I entered all info with 2014 dates but mistakenly posted everything under January 2015 instead of December 2014. Since this is a new calendar year I can not change the original set up date to post all 2014 data under December 2014. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the data for 2014 on 2014 year or should I just do journal entries to remove all amounts from January 2015 that pertain to 2014 so my 2015 reports will appear correctly? thanks Lisa

You could try the delete old data process. It may work, then again, it may not.livinghope wrote:I am sure this has been asked but I could not find any related posts so I will ask anyway.

Here's what you should do:
1. Take a backup of the database using the Powerchurch built in backup utility.
2. Head to Fund Accounting -> Setup -> Delete Old Data
3. Enter YES when asked.
4. On the last page, where it says Delete all data prior to (month)(year), change the pull down to January 2015.
5. It will do some recalcuations and deletions, then say finished.
6. Click on the DONE button, the system will reindex the files (takes about 30 to 60 seconds or so)
7. Check to see if the 2014 calculations are still there.
If they aren't, well you're all set. If they are, you have some work ahead of you, as the only choices would be to reverse all the posted entries for the 2014 transactions, or restart accounting.
You really don't want to enter any journal entries to clean this up, just use the system's reversal function to do all the reversals. It will save you a lot of time and effort. Especially if you enter a journal entry and 'fat finger' a number.
You'll have to run a reconciliation to clear all the entries and reversals, but once that's done the system should be back to the start of the year.
