I got a similar message when I attempted to use my gmail account. I then received an e-mail from Google informing me that an unauthorized/outsite user attempted to send e-mail under my name.

I received a message from gmail as well saying a sign in had been prevented from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards...

I asked previously, are you using Google Apps, or just creating a Gmail account?? You may also need to check to see if you have Google 2-step authentication turned on for the account. If you do, you need to turn it off as it won't work with Powerchurch mass email.

As I mentioned to RClark, check if you have Google's 2-step authentication turned on.

Gmail will sometimes block access to third party programs and give you a vague error message rather than explaining what is actually going on.

There is an article linked below on the Google support site explaining the authorization process:

I gave up trying to use my Gmail account, so now I am trying our church e-mail account (@livingwordchino.com) but I get the following message:
Error within Socket Connect: Connection Rejected. :(

OK, how do you access the church account? Outlook, Thunderbird, or some other way?

OK .. you're using GoDaddy for your domain. They offer SMTP access using these settings:

SMTP Server: smtpout.secureserver.net
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS

So you should set up the system as follows.

Setup the email using the Email Address.

Outgoing Email Server: smtpout.secureserver.net:465
Check the box for outgoing email server requires authentication.
User Name will be the Email address you created.
Password would be the password you created.
Security: SSL
Check the box for 'validate certificates'.

This is what works for me here.

Almost there. I was able to initiate an e-mail. I received a msg saying it was sent. I received in my church e-mail what was supposed to be a copy of what I sent out, but I received the following: And the message never reached the targeted recipient.
