Database Manager

Post by beas »

I was needing to do some database work and went to the database manager in v10. I found that if I don't close any quick menus I have open, they stay on top in the database manager. I can't close them while in the database manager nor can I move them. So they are on top of any information I want to look at using the manager. In all of the previous versions, the menus closed when you opened the database manager. Is this a bug? I can't believe it was intentional.

We did make an effort to leave the Quick Menus open. This was a complaint from users of prior versions, that when you enter the database manager, reindex, or backup & restore, we would close all the Quick Menus, leaving you to manually open them all again.

I ran a little test, however, and the browse window that opens from the database manager automatically opened in front of the Quick Menus, so they weren't blocking anything from view.

Whichever window is active should be at the front. If you click on a Quick Menu when you have the browse window open, it will bring the Quick Menu to the front.

Is this the behavior that you are seeing? If not post up specifically which Quick Menus you have open, so we can make sure that everything is set up properly.

It doesn't matter what quick menus are open...including the PowerChurch Today window. They all become static in the database manager window and on top of everything. I can move the command box around, but that's all.

I like having the menus stay open. This problem isn't a show stopper, just rather annoying.

Here's something else I just tried...kind of accidently. I opened custom reports for fund accounting and then cancelled it. The menus I had open stayed open as advertised. Then I opened the database manager and all of the menus and the quick task panel disappeared. And they didn't come back when I exited the manager. This didn't happen when I opened custom reoprts in other menus. Weird.
