At the first of the year, we want to switch over from our old financial system to using our new PowerChurch contributions module. I have read the manual several times but I seem to be missing something when I make a test run of the system:
I go to Contributions
Enter Contributions
I say "OK" to the date and type of contribution (checks in this case)
Now I see blanks under name and address, so I go to "find" and type in my first name to look for, next to "envelope number" for example "Jane Jones". When I hit "OK", nothing happens. If I try to "add" Jane Jones, it warns me that Jane Jones already exists in the system.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Lynda

In order for the Contribution Module to work you must assign an envelope number to each contributor. You can do this under > Membership > Personal Profiles > Maintain Personal Profiles. You can then assign a number or click on the envelope to the right of the field and the system will assign the next available number. Remember you will need to assign a number for loose offerings. We use 100 for that and all the contributors are above that number. If you assign the first number yourself at a number that you wish to begin your contributors numbers the system should automatically assign the next highest number to the next contributor.

Thanks
Thanks so much. Right after I posted the question, I realized I had not assigned envelope numbers! Thanks for the tip about loose plate collections, I was wondering what to do about that. Thanks!
