Donated time by organist

Post by Dave B »

What is the proper way to handle the following transaction in Power Church Plus? Our organist is designating her salary (which is typically shown in the Organist expense when it is paid) to debt reduction expense in the chart of accounts. Trying to do this in a way that avoids having to issue a check to the organist and then having her hand it back as a contribution. I want to show that the expense for organist is recorded properly and that the donated amount went to debt reduction. Is this possible to do in Power Church Plus?

Are you using the Payroll module? If so, you can create a Contribution Deduction Payroll Item for the employee, in that Item Description you can point to the Contribution Fund that covers Debt Reduction. If you don't have one, create one. Then when adding it to the employee, you choose AMOUNT, and then for the amount, you enter the amount of her check after taxes.

Then when you run payroll, everything is automatically moved and is reflected in the proper locations.
