Moving a detail account

Post by Winkleremmc »

Hi, I am trying to move a Detail account from one group to another without changing the actual account number. I just want to have it show within a different group for budget and reporting. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? And instruction please?

Thanks!

The account number is what determines which group account it falls under. There isn't a way to move the account without changing the number.

Well thats unfortunate, thanks for the info... Do you think I can move the account and renumber to put it in the category i want? Will it save all the historical content under the new account number or is it recommended to make that account inactive and create a new account?

All you need is to renumber the account under the group and everything will move.

For example, if the account is numbered 4500, and the new group is 5600, you can renumber the account to 5610, and it will all move, all previous history.
