I'm using... Can you convert my data?

PowerChurch Software has been in business since 1984. It wasn't long after the first version of PowerChurch Plus released that we started performing custom data conversions. Over the years, we have just about seen it all and many companies and programs have come and gone. In most cases, whether it is packaged church management software from an established company, or some variety of homemade Access database or Excel spreadsheets, we can do it.

What information can be converted?

Generally speaking, Membership and Contribution information can be converted. We have taken requests and issued quotes for custom conversions of other areas of the program, like Check In setup and Events Calendar. Unfortunately, Accounting information including chart of accounts, budgets, transactions, or most anything else you find under the Accounting menu, is not possible to convert.

How much does it cost?

It all depends on what information you would like converted. Please review the pricing listed for all the different options here.

How do I get the process started?

Once you have purchased the software, we can begin your data conversion at any time. Please complete the order form, which will let us know what data you would like to have converted. There is a file uploader included on that page which allows you to send the backup or files from your previous software. If you have your own web space and have uploaded the backup files elsewhere, you can submit a link for us to download them. If you are having trouble transferring the files, please give us a call at (800) 486-1800 and we will help you get your data to us.

How long will it take?

We ask for two weeks to complete the data conversion. Sometimes it is finished quicker than that, but the two week estimate allows for unforeseen circumstances that may delay the completion of your conversion.

Can I continue to enter data in my old software?

This is not recommended. Anything you enter into your old software after sending in your data for conversion will have to be re-entered in PowerChurch when the data conversion is complete. It is considerably more complex to "merge" multiple data sets together. If you enter information that you can't live without and require that we re-convert the data once the conversion process is complete, there will be an additional charge.

Can I begin entering data in PowerChurch?

Since we aren't able to perform data conversions on the Accounting side of the software, it is possible that you get started setting up Accounting, but it is strongly advised that you do not enter information into Membership or Contributions. When we complete the data conversion, we will send you a backup of your converted data. When you restore that converted data, it will overwrite anything in those areas of the program. As before, if you enter information that you can't live without and require that we re-convert the data once the conversion process is complete, there will be an additional charge.

Can you convert multiple data sets?

Sometimes, it is possible to merge data from multiple databases together, but it is much more complex of a process. When you have multiple sets of data that you would like to have merged together as part of your data conversion, our developers will need to get access to the data files from you before issuing a quote for the cost of the service. The standard pricing you see listed on the site does not include merging two data sets together.

Can you merge new data into existing PowerChurch data?

Yes, it is sometimes possible to bring data from another program and merge it with existing data in PowerChurch. However, it is much more complex of a process. When you have existing PowerChurch data that you would like to merge new information into, our developers will need to get both sets of data from you in advance before issuing a quote for the cost of the service. The standard pricing you see listed on the site does not include merging two data sets together.

What if I find a problem?

You have 30 days once the data conversion has been completed to request changes. It is imperative that you review the data thoroughly when you receive it! Once you have entered information in PowerChurch that you do not wish to lose, we will no longer be able to easily reconvert the data. It is considerably more complex to "merge" multiple data sets together. If, after 30 days have passed, you find a problem and need the data to be reconverted, there will be an additional charge.
