Common Issues Associated with PowerChurch Plus Version 7

Program Startup

Double Click the program icon and a message quickly flashes on the screen that reads, "This program cannot be run in MS-DOS mode." FIX: Diskettes labeled "Windows System Files For PowerChurch Plus" have not been loaded. Install these diskettes and restart the computer.

Double click the program icon and a Microsoft FoxPro message comes up: "Invalid or missing .EXE file" or "File PC.EXE does not exist." FIX: There is a possible conflict between share.exe and vshare.exe. To prevent this conflict, set the PC.EXE and VFP300.ESL files to read-only.

Membership Module

When entering a form that includes photographs (Integrated Data Entry, Maintain Family Mailing List, Maintain Personal Profiles), you receive an error message: "Record ## is Read Only." FIX: Increase the files and locks parameters of the SHARE.EXE statement in the autoexec.bat file. For instance, SHARE.EXE /F:4096 /L:500

When entering a form that includes photographs (Integrated Data Entry, Maintain Family Mailing List, Maintain Personal Profiles), you receive an error message: "____.FLL is invalid." FIX: Diskettes labeled "Windows System Files For PowerChurch Plus" have not been loaded. Install these diskettes and restart the computer.

Printing Checks, Labels, Cards and Forms

Receive the following message when printing to a tractor feed printer:

"Warning: [printer name] is not setup correctly for tractor feed printing in PowerChurch Plus. Dot matrix printers must be setup with a Custom Paper Size of 850 by 1101 .01 inches or 2159 by 2794 .1 millime- ters. Please refer to your Windows manual for more information on changing these settings."

FIX: This printer needs to be setup with a "user-defined" paper size in Windows. Version 7 requires that tractor feed printers use a user defined paper size of 800 x 1100 .01 inches. Change these settings under this printer's properties in the Windows control panel. There are some currently unresolved issues with check, label, card, and form printing on tractor feed printers in Windows NT 4.0.

Database Manager

Using the FoxPro "copy file" command under the Database Manager has been known to corrupt PowerChurch's PC.DBC file. If this command is executed while in the Database Manager, you may need to uninstall and reinstall PowerChurch Plus 7.

Graphs

In Windows 3.1 Only: Cannot print graphs. This is a known issue and there is currently no fix. WORK AROUND: Copy graphs to the Windows Clipboard and paste into another program such as Paintbrush or Paint.

Insufficient Memory Error when using version 7

Version 7 will not run on a machine that has more than 768MB of system RAM. If you are experiencing this problem, your options are to either downgrade your computer or upgrade your software.
