Installing PowerChurch Plus on a NAS (Network Attached Storage) Device

This article is part of a series - Networking Instructions for PowerChurch Plus. If you aren't installing PowerChurch Plus on a NAS or other non-Windows device, go back to the main article and click the appropriate link for Server Setup for your Windows version.

PowerChurch Plus will only run on computers or devices running Windows operating system. However, in a local network environment, it is possible to have a non-Windows device, such as a NAS or Linux server, hosting the shared PowerChurch installation.

Setting Up the Network Share

You will first need to set up a shared folder on that device, so that other computers on the local network can "see" it on the network and have read/write access. How this is done will vary from device to device. NAS devices normally have a web page interface that you can access and set up. A Linux server may require SSH (Secure Shell) access to set the sharing properties.

Installing PowerChurch Plus

Insert the PowerChurch Plus install CD or run the downloaded installer from the link that was sent via email. When prompted for the location to install the software, enter the UNC path of the network share. The installation directory should look something like the following:

\\SERVER_NAME\PowerChurch\PCPLUS12\

Once that installation is complete, PowerChurch is ready to go. The current workstation is all set and should have a PowerChurch Plus shortcut on the Desktop. You can now return to the main Networking Instructions for PowerChurch Plus article and follow the Workstation Setup instructions for any other workstations that will need access.
