PowerChurch Software Newsletter - Year End 2019 Part 2
Welcome to the second year-end newsletter for 2019. In this issue, we've got changes to the Federal Withholding tax calculations for 2020 and highlight improvements to Membership reports made in Version 12.2.
New W4 Form for 2020
A Maintenance Release was published for Versions 11.5 and 12, adding functionality to work with the redesigned W4 form for 2020. This change not only added some new fields, it also changed the tax calculation method and introduced four new Federal tax tables (now six in total).
We have published a Knowledge Base article to explain the new functionality. This article presents a scenario where an existing employee would want to complete a new W4 form to change their tax withholding options, with an explanation and screen shots of the forms and process in PowerChurch.

The existing Knowledge Base articles that explain how to update the Federal Tax Tables have been updated with the new information and instructions now that the Publication 15-T document has been published for 2020. All of the Federal and State tax table articles can be found on our website at https://www.powerchurch.com/support/pr
Improvements to Membership Reports
The Version 12.2 update added a few improvements to the reports in the Membership side of the software. There is a new Visitations report that can be run directly from the Integrated Data Entry screen on the Visitations tab. This is the easiest way to generate a report of a single family's Visitation history. On the Selection Criteria screen used in most Personal Profiles reports, there is a new Age range selection. This saves you from having to manually calculate the range of birth dates for that age range. Also in Personal Profiles, the Selected Dates report now uses that standard Selection Criteria screen, which adds more selection options to narrow down the list.
Forum Q & A
The Support Forum on our website is a very active online community of our users and Tech Support staff members. There you can browse through thousands of questions and answers, or post your own.
From Accounting:
Q. I need to void a blank check that was not written.
A. This is actually quite easy. Go into Fund Accounting and enter a transaction. For the Ref/Check No. just enter the number of the check, followed by -VOID. The system will fill in everything else. You just click the Save button, then Done.
From Membership:
Q. I would like to delete all 600 Mailing Category assignments and start over.
A. Go to Membership > Family Mailing List > Setup and choose Maintain Custom Codes. Select a Mailing Category option from the list and click Delete. It will ask what you want to do with the X families that have that code assigned. You can assign a different value or leave them with NONE.
From Other:
Q. I used to back up my Version 10 using a flash drive. Recently, though, when I initiate the back up process, I get the message "PowerChurch Plus needs to install updated run-time files." I click OK and it appears that it is going through the process, but then it still won't back up anything.
A. If it is a Windows 10 computer, try manually installing the .NET 2 run-times. Back when Version 10 of PowerChurch Plus was under maintenance, .NET 2 was always installed and enabled in Windows, so our installers didn't include it. Windows 10 doesn't come with it installed by default.
