Exporting the Events Calendar

The Events Calendar can be exported for use in a word processing program, or as an HTML file, to be published on your web site. This document explains both processes.

To view the Events Calendar, click Events, then Events Calendar. The Monthly view is the default. Scroll through the calendar to the desired monthly view.

Click the "Export" (floppy disk icon) button located near the top left of the screen. This will begin the process of exporting your current calendar view. The first option, "Create for use in word processor" will copy the calendar table and event information to the Windows Clipboard.

This allows you to paste the calendar into an existing word processor document, such as the church bulletin or newsletter. You can then use the formatting tools in the word processing program to format the look of the calendar, background colors, size and style of text, etc.

To save the calendar as an HTML file, you would choose the second option "Create for use on a website".

You can then select which theme you want to use. PowerChurch Plus has ten different themes built in. The HTML file export is structured in a way that is easily customizable using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).

There are many free resources online, regarding working with CSS. Chances are, the person in charge of maintaining the church web site is already using CSS in some capacity! If the church web site already has a linked style sheet in use, the embedded styles from the exported file can be copied into the linked style sheet for future use. This will keep you from having to change the styles each time the calendar is generated.
